Virtual reality has become even more immersive, where you now can feel virtual objects!
ShenZhen based company Dexta Robotics has developed something which elevates Virtual Reality to another level: the Dexmo. The Dexmo is an exoskeleton that allows you to touch and feel virtual objects in the digital world.
How it works is that on top of motion capturing, through the force feedback ability, it lets the user feel the size and shape of the virtual objects, a feature that is unique to Dexmo.
Though this idea might not be new, where they have introduced it back in 2014 through Kickstarter but failed to raise enough funds.
This did not halt the team’s efforts and for the past two years, they worked with over 20 prototypes to come up with their product and according to them, the Dexmo can “simulate the clicky sensation of a button or trigger. It can simulate the shape of a knob and allow you to grasp and turn.”
This might revolutionize the whole virtual reality experience. However, there is no release or pricing information available for Dexmo at the moment.
